What Is Turbocharger Overhaul?

Turbochargers sent in for overhaul first undergo a detailed technical inspection to identify damaged components. Using internal and external diameter comparators, micron-level precision measurements are taken to detect parts that exceed standard wear limits. The shaft runout (imbalance) is measured and adjusted to fall within manufacturer specifications, in line with real-world operating conditions. Once the turbocharger has been assembled and calibrated to OEM standards, it is tested and inspected using special flowbench equipment—identical to those used by manufacturers—simulating on-vehicle operating conditions. The unit is then finalized and delivered as a fully renewed component.
